Goals

  • Understand how pipeline is handled within WFP
  • Investigate RMS pipeline initiatives
  • Investiage implication of pipeline process on CATS

Discussion Items

ItemNotes
Pledge and contribution
  • Two Excel spreadsheets are used to track both pledges and confirmed contributions.
  • The spreadsheets are shared with DRMFSS
  • Donors pledge in currency amount which is then converted to tonnage using internal WFP tool which considers several variables both for local and international purchases
RMS Efforts
  • There was a suggestion by developers of RMS to incorporate pipeline operation within DRMFSS so that donation receiving can be traced back to pledges and contributions
  • The idea was not well received since there is no single individual within DRMFSS with that role
  • Pipeline feature was left out of RMS
Implications to CATS
  • The core of CATS (Accounting Patterns in CATS) is based on the assumption that only weight value in MT is going to be used for generating statistics and reports
  • The conversion process from currency amount into tonnage poses a high risk in the accuracy of figures within CATS
  • The decision wether to record pledges inside transactions table in CATS or not will require the revision of CATS accounting pattern design
