  • Recording of pledges/donor contribution is implemented in the 5th sprint with the assumption that we get the contrition in tonnage
  • During the demonstration it was raised that for the most part pledges are made in cash
  • What is the difference between pledges and contributions
Suggested terminology for the two concepts
  • We can use the term 
    • Forecasted Contributions to represent pledges 
    • Confirmed Contributions to represent contributions
How pledges lead to contributions and gift cetrificate
  • Donors pledge cash (usually in USD) to contribute the amount requested by DRMFSS on the active HRD (Forecasted Contribution)
  • When the donor actually sends the commodity then it will be considered as Confirmed Contribution
  • This will trigger DRMFSS to issue Gift Certificate for tax exemption to the donor

Action Items

  • Setup a meeting with Early Warning Case Team Coordinator to asses the issue of pledges and contributions
  • Since Mpho will not be available after Sept 16 2013, the development team should arrange a meeting with him to asses how pledges, contributions and pipeline activities are handled within WFP
